Umphrey's always brings their A+ game when they come to Minneapolis! The happy, energetic crowd provided the fuel to make the whole night over the top. This recording captures just how good the show was. Crisp, detailed high end with a nice tight bottom end. Rich sound through and through. I love the open and airy feel to it.
Thanks for sharing this great recording!

Umphreys puts on a top notch show every time. This band never disappoints the crowd.
Recording was excellent, I have downloaded many shows from various tapers. Cliff's recordings & quality are always above the others. He really seems to have an ear for the right mix. I used my Bose speakers to listen to the first time then on my Yamaha's. Damn fine recording.
If you want to listen to quality taping download Cliff's - just like UM - never been disappointed.

Good recording, great show!!!
Audio quality is quite good for what it is. Higher range is a little muffled out, but that may have been the speakers I was playing them on.
As for the show itself, I first saw Umphrey's at 1st Ave in 2008 and have been an avid fan in the years since. Unlike bands such as Tool, Nine Inch Nails, System etc... You know what you are going to get every show. Not neccessarilly the set list, but you know the songs that you will hear are going to be played at a very high level throughout, but very very little room for improv. The aformentioned bands are amazing for the fact that you know the show will be great. UM on the other hand has minimal structure compared to those bands. I have found they completely feed off of the crowd, and the energy displayed, as you would expect for improv artists. If the crowd sucks, the show is likely going to reflect that. I can safely say the crowd was very responsive on this night in particular. I haven't seen UM since last year at First Ave and they did not dissapoint. The Nemo off of the first set has a great Jimmy jam in it, my favorite of the show.
Having not got my UM fix for about a year this show was top notch, I may have been in a psychadelic paradise, but i distinctly remember 3 points during this show where I thought to myself, this is why I love UM and that no other band can do what they do.
Thank you UM for the amazing show!
And seriously people, as Bayliss said, why the fuck are we bringing balloons to a fucking rock show? These artists are putting on a very sophisticated performance for our enjoyment, and you have idiots bouncing balloons around. If you were to break the concentration of one of the members by hitting them you could jeopordize the continuity of the masterpieces they are putting together. If you are going to come to a show to bounce a fucking balloon please don't bother coming, this is A FUCKING ROCKSHOW!
